Custom Bedroom Storage in Durango, CO
Most bedroom storage problems come down to the same things: standard sizes that don't fit your wall, your wardrobe, or the way you actually use the room. We design and build custom bedroom systems in our Durango shop: closets, built-ins, and storage sized to your space, not to a pallet.

Bedroom Storage Built for Real Colorado Life
Your bedroom is where every day starts and ends, and the closet handles more daily use than almost any storage in the house. Most of them are working against you with standard rod heights, fixed shelves, drawers that bind, and nowhere obvious for the things you reach for every morning.
Colorado Closets Plus has been redesigning bedrooms across Durango and Southwest Colorado since 2008. Designed in our shop. Manufactured at our facility on Turner Drive. Installed by our own team. Not a franchise, not a flat-pack kit. Every storage solution is built here, specifically for your space.
Whether it’s a primary bedroom with a walk-in that’s never worked right, a kid’s bedroom with a reach-in closet that isn’t working for little timmy, or a guest bedroom that needs a job while it sits empty ten months a year, we’ll design something that fits.

Bedrooms
A custom bedroom closet beats a store-bought closet every time.
Custom bedroom storage vs. big-box shelves
A wire-shelf bedroom closet system is designed so it fits any closet or, put another way, it fits no individual closet particularly well. Standard widths leave gaps at the wall. Fixed shelves leave dead space at the ceiling. Plastic clips start failing after a couple of years.
A custom system is built around your actual measurements: how long your wall is, how deep the space goes, how high the ceiling sits, and whether you need a center island. Every shelf is the right length. Every drawer makes the most out of your layout. It looks like it was always there, because it was designed for you and nothing else.

Custom Colors & Finishes
More than 50 options, from crisp bright whites and warm off-whites to rich wood tones, deep blues, charcoal greys, and matte blacks. Your designer will bring physical samples to the consultation so you can see how each finish reads in your room’s light before deciding anything.
Door & Drawer Front Styles
Slab, shaker, open face, or glass-front. Match your bedroom’s existing trim or make a deliberate contrast — both work, depending on what you’re going for.
Hardware
Matte black, brushed nickel, polished chrome, antique brass, and more. Pick the metal that anchors the rest of the room.
Accessories
Jewellery drawers, pull-out hampers, valet rods, belt and tie racks, shoe shelving with adjustable spacing, integrated lighting, and built-in islands for boutique layouts.
Frequently Asked Questions
What types of bedroom storage do you build?
Walk-in and reach-in closets, boutique closets, kids’-room systems, guest-room solutions, and built-ins. The bedroom closet handles more daily use than almost any storage in the house, so it’s worth designing around your routine.
Will custom storage add value when I sell?
It’s something buyers notice on a walkthrough — a well-built primary closet or a finished garage stands out in a way wire shelving never does. Agents across Southwest Colorado consistently flag thoughtful storage as a differentiator.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes. Every project starts with a free in-home consultation — we come to you, measure the space, talk through how you use it, and leave you with a design and an itemized quote. No obligation, and no showroom visit required.
Where is everything manufactured?
At our own facility at 190 Turner Drive in Durango. Nothing ships in from a national distribution center — which means shorter lead times and changes resolved in days, not weeks.
How many color and finish options are there?
More than 50 — crisp whites, warm off-whites, wood tones, deep blues and greens, charcoals, and matte blacks. We bring physical samples to your home so you can see them in the room’s actual light.
What are your closets and cabinets made of?
High-quality thermally fused melamine — hard, non-porous, easy to clean, and stable in dry Colorado air, where cheaper boards swell or peel. Cabinet boxes are built on plywood. The finish holds up for decades.
How long does installation take?
Most single-room projects install in one to two days. Larger or multi-room projects are phased so you’re not living in a construction zone. You’ll get a specific timeline once the design is finalized.
Do you serve Telluride, Pagosa Springs, and Ouray?
Yes. We travel throughout Southwest Colorado for consultations and installations — Telluride, Pagosa Springs, Ouray, Cortez, Silverton, Bayfield, Farmington, and the surrounding communities.
What finishes are available?
Every material we offer has more than 50 variations. Wood grains, whites, warmer off-whites, colors, and all the hardware you could imagine. If you want to see the whole menu come on down to our showroom on Turner Drive in Durango or book a free design consultation and we’ll come to you.
Are you a franchise?
No. Colorado Closets Plus is locally owned and has designed, built, and installed in Durango since 2008. The designer who walks your home is part of the same team that manufactures and installs the project.
Can you work with sloped ceilings or other non-standard spaces?
Yes — those are exactly the spaces custom is for. Sloped ceilings, angled walls, shallow niches, and converted rooms are common in mountain homes, and every piece is made to your measurements rather than a standard size.
Can you improve a closet without making it bigger?
Usually, yes. Most bedroom closets hold more than their layout suggests — double hang, full-height shelving, and integrated drawers often solve the problem without adding a single square foot.
