Custom Primary/Master Bedroom Storage
The primary bedroom - YOUR bedroom - gets used twice a day, every day. Most of them work against you with a minimal closet the builder shoehorned in, drawers that bind, nowhere obvious for the things you actually reach for in the morning.
We design the whole suite as one project: closet, built-ins, dressing area, and any other storage the room calls for.

Master Suite Storage Built for Colorado Homeowners
A primary closet has to work at 6am when you’re half awake and running late, hold two people’s wardrobes without a daily turf war, and store the half-year gear without burying everything else. Most builder closets do none of that. They give you one rod, one height, the rest is on you.
We design around how you actually get dressed: what you reach for first and where it lives, separate zones so two people aren’t colliding, a real home for ski shells and heavy coats off the everyday rod. It starts with a free in-home consultation where we measure the suite and ask a lot of questions. Walk-in, reach-in, or full boutique build, all manufactured at our facility on Turner Drive in Durango.
Design Options & Configurations
Everything in your primary bedroom system is yours to configure — the layout, how things hang, the finishes, the hardware, the lighting. Here's how we think about each piece.

Custom Layouts
U-shape, L-shape, galley, or single-wall, designed around the room you have. Wide enough, usually eight feet or more, and we can work in a walk-in island.

Rods & Hanging
Double hang for shirts and jackets, long hang for dresses and coats, or a mix when two people share. Sized to your actual wardrobe, not a template.
Colors & Finishes
More than 50 options, from bright whites and warm woods to deep charcoals and matte blacks. Samples come to your consultation so you see them in your room's real light.
Accessories
Jewelry drawers, pull-out hampers, valet rods, belt and tie racks, shoe shelving, and integrated lighting. Add as much or as little as makes sense.

New Home Builds
We work with your builder before the drywall goes up, so the closet is part of the build instead of something wedged in afterward.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many color and finish options are there?
More than 50 — crisp whites, warm off-whites, wood tones, deep blues and greens, charcoals, and matte blacks. We bring physical samples to your home so you can see them in the room’s actual light.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes. Every project starts with a free in-home consultation — we come to you, measure the space, talk through how you use it, and leave you with a design and an itemized quote. No obligation, and no showroom visit required.
Where is everything manufactured?
At our own facility at 190 Turner Drive in Durango. Nothing ships in from a national distribution center — which means shorter lead times and changes resolved in days, not weeks.
What’s the minimum size for a walk-in closet?
Around 5 by 5 feet is where a walk-in starts to function; 6 by 8 or larger gives access from both sides and more flexibility. We design for whatever you have, including irregular and sloped-ceiling spaces.
Can you build a dressing-room island?
Yes, where the footprint allows — typically about 8 feet of clearance on one side. An island adds drawers, a folding surface, and a focal point. The countertop is coordinated separately.
Can you design a closet two people share?
Yes — dedicated zones for each person’s wardrobe, with separate hanging and drawer banks, so no one’s negotiating for space every morning.
Do you have a showroom?
We have a small showroom at our production facility in Durango at 190 Turner Drive Units B & H,
Durango. We come to you for your design consultation, but if you’re interested in seeing where the magic happens, or if you just want to get an in-person look at some of our beautiful finish and accessories here in-store, we’d love to show you around. Are you a franchise?
No. Colorado Closets Plus is locally owned and has designed, built, and installed in Durango since 2008. The designer who walks your home is part of the same team that manufactures and installs the project.
Do you install lighting?
Yes. We design and install any lighting that doesn’t require patching into your home’s electrical — think battery and motion-sensor units, plug-in under-shelf LED strips, and entry lights. For hardwired, integrated lighting we design and rough it out, and the final electrical connection is handled by your electrician. Your designer will map out the right lighting plan for your space at the consultation.
Can you work with sloped ceilings or other non-standard spaces?
Yes — those are exactly the spaces custom is for. Sloped ceilings, angled walls, shallow niches, and converted rooms are common in mountain homes, and every piece is made to your measurements rather than a standard size.
Do you serve Telluride, Pagosa Springs, and Ouray?
Yes. We travel throughout Southwest Colorado for consultations and installations — Telluride, Pagosa Springs, Ouray, Cortez, Silverton, Bayfield, Farmington, and the surrounding communities.
Will custom storage add value when I sell?
It’s something buyers notice on a walkthrough — a well-built primary closet or a finished garage stands out in a way wire shelving never does. Agents across Southwest Colorado consistently flag thoughtful storage as a differentiator.
What are your closets and cabinets made of?
High-quality thermally fused melamine — hard, non-porous, easy to clean, and stable in dry Colorado air, where cheaper boards swell or peel. Cabinet boxes are built on plywood. The finish holds up for decades.
Do you work outside Durango?
We do. Our crew works with clients in Telluride, Mountain Village, Pagosa Springs, Cortez, and all around the Four Corners. The free consultation and the install both come to you.
How long does installation take?
Most single-room projects install in one to two days. Larger or multi-room projects are phased so you’re not living in a construction zone. You’ll get a specific timeline once the design is finalized.
What does the first step look like?
A designer comes to the house, measures, and talks through what is not working. You see the design before anything is built.
What finishes are available?
Every material we offer has more than 50 variations. Wood grains, whites, warmer off-whites, colors, and all the hardware you could imagine. If you want to see the whole menu come on down to our showroom on Turner Drive in Durango or book a free design consultation and we’ll come to you.
