Custom Storage Solutions Designed and Built in Durango, CO
Whatever the room, the storage problem tends to be the same one. Standard sizes that don't quite fit, finishes that look like everyone else's, a product built to ship in a flat box instead of to fit your house. We design and build storage that skips all of that: closets, cabinets, wall beds, garage systems, built-ins. Made here in Durango, on Turner Drive, since 2008.

Bedroom Closets Built for Real Life in Durango, CO
Every solution we build rests on the same three things: thermally fused melamine on plywood or particle-core boxes, manufacturing on Turner Drive, and installation by a crew that stands behind every install.
Everything else is up to you. The layout, the configuration, the finish, the hardware, the accessories all get worked out during the consultation, in your house, with a tape measure and a bag of samples.
Some of what we do is one product in one room. A reach-in closet. A single bathroom vanity. A Murphy bed that hands a guest room back to you as an office. Some of it runs across the whole house, carrying one finish through the kitchen, the mudroom, the laundry, and the primary closet. The crew’s the same either way, the material standard’s the same, and it all runs through the same shop.
Below is every kind of solution we build. Pick the one that fits what you’ve got in mind.

Custom beats off-the-shelf in every category.
Custom Storage vs. Big-Box
Off-the-shelf storage is built to fit any house, which really means it doesn't fit yours all that well. Standard widths leave gaps at the wall. Particleboard boxes swell at the joints after a few years of dry mountain air. Wire shelving clips give out. Whatever you saved at the register gets paid back when you replace it early.
Custom starts from your measurements. Shelves the right length. Drawers the ideal depth for your space. Cabinets sit flush to the wall because they were made to. The whole thing looks like part of the house because that's the only place it was ever meant to be.

Check out our materials and finish options
Every system we build uses high-quality thermally fused melamine, the same material premium storage makers rely on across North America. The surface is hard, easy to wipe down, and resistant to moisture. It also holds up in dry Colorado air, where hardwoods swell and warp within a few years.
Colors & finishes
More than 50 options across whites, warm off-whites, wood tones, deep blues and greens, charcoals, and matte blacks. Your designer brings samples to the consultation so you can see how each one reads in your room’s real light before you commit.
Door & drawer front styles
Slab, finger-pull, or grooved fronts. Match your existing trim, your kitchen cabinetry, or your closet system, or run a deliberate contrast where it suits the room.
Hardware
Matte black, brushed nickel, polished chrome, antique brass, and more. It’s the metal that anchors the rest of the room. Soft-close hinges and drawer slides come standard on every cabinet we build.
Box construction
Cabinet boxes for kitchen, bathroom, laundry, pantry, and office are plywood. Closet boxes use thermally fused melamine over particle core, the standard for closet construction across North America. Both are built to last decades in our climate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have a showroom?
We have a small showroom at our production facility in Durango at 190 Turner Drive Units B & H,
Durango. We come to you for your design consultation, but if you’re interested in seeing where the magic happens, or if you just want to get an in-person look at some of our beautiful finish and accessories here in-store, we’d love to show you around.Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes. Every project starts with a free in-home consultation — we come to you, measure the space, talk through how you use it, and leave you with a design and an itemized quote. No obligation, and no showroom visit required.
Do you work in new construction as well as existing homes?
Both. Most of our work is retrofit in existing homes, but we also coordinate with builders and architects on new builds — the earlier we’re involved, the more storage gets designed into the house itself.
How many color and finish options are there?
More than 50 — crisp whites, warm off-whites, wood tones, deep blues and greens, charcoals, and matte blacks. We bring physical samples to your home so you can see them in the room’s actual light.
What finishes are available?
Every material we offer has more than 50 variations. Wood grains, whites, warmer off-whites, colors, and all the hardware you could imagine. If you want to see the whole menu come on down to our showroom on Turner Drive in Durango or book a free design consultation and we’ll come to you.
Where is everything manufactured?
At our own facility at 190 Turner Drive in Durango. Nothing ships in from a national distribution center — which means shorter lead times and changes resolved in days, not weeks.
What does the first step look like?
A designer comes to the house, measures, and talks through what is not working. You see the design before anything is built.
Can you do more than one room in a single project?
Yes. Whole-house projects are common, and carrying one finish across rooms keeps everything cohesive — one design team, one install schedule, one point of contact.
How long does installation take?
Most single-room projects install in one to two days. Larger or multi-room projects are phased so you’re not living in a construction zone. You’ll get a specific timeline once the design is finalized.
Can I do one product now and add more later?
Yes. Many clients start with one closet or room and come back for others. We keep your finish and design on file so later additions match.
What’s the difference between fully custom and semi-custom?
Semi-custom assembles pre-built boxes in standard widths to fill a space. Fully custom — what we build — means every component is made to your exact dimensions: no standard widths, no filler pieces.
Do you work outside Durango?
We do. Our crew works with clients in Telluride, Mountain Village, Pagosa Springs, Cortez, and all around the Four Corners. The free consultation and the install both come to you.
What are your closets and cabinets made of?
High-quality thermally fused melamine — hard, non-porous, easy to clean, and stable in dry Colorado air, where cheaper boards swell or peel. Cabinet boxes are built on plywood. The finish holds up for decades.
Are you a franchise?
No. Colorado Closets Plus is locally owned and has designed, built, and installed in Durango since 2008. The designer who walks your home is part of the same team that manufactures and installs the project.
Do you serve Telluride, Pagosa Springs, and Ouray?
Yes. We travel throughout Southwest Colorado for consultations and installations — Telluride, Pagosa Springs, Ouray, Cortez, Silverton, Bayfield, Farmington, and the surrounding communities.
Do you supply the boot-drying tray and hooks?
We build fully custom solutions for your unique needs and will either source the features you need or work with an outside vendor to make sure you have the right storage for you and your family. In the past we’ve also mounted Gravity Grabbers, specialty drying equipment, and sport-specific locker configurations.
Where do I start if I want to redo storage in more than one room?
The free consultation. A designer walks the whole house, you talk through what’s working and what isn’t, and we build a plan you can phase over time or tackle all at once — no obligation beyond the rooms you’re ready to start.
What do you actually build?
Custom closets, cabinets for every room, wall beds, garage and gear storage, built-ins, and new-construction storage — all designed and manufactured in Durango.
